Logan's Light: From a Thought to a Finished Book

How a quiet idea became Logan's Light, a children's book about grief, hope, and sibling love written in memory of our son. Read on for the whole story.

Sometimes God places something on your heart and allows it to grow there in its own time.
A couple of years ago, I shared here that I was considering writing a book about Logan, our son we lost to a rare form of cancer in 2019 at the age of 10. At the time, it felt like more of a thought than a plan. I wasn’t sure when, or even if, I would ever be ready to turn that idea into something real.
In January of 2025, I did it.
I published Logan’s Light, a children’s book written from a place of love, faith, and the belief that light can exist even in the midst of loss. Seeing it completed felt surreal, emotional, and deeply meaningful. What once lived only in my heart and prayers became pages, words, and a story meant to gently comfort others.
Logan’s Light follows a brother and sister as they navigate life after the loss of their middle brother. Through imagination and gentle fantasy, they discover the Land of Memories, a beautiful place filled with light, wonder, and the reminder that the people we love are never truly gone. It’s a story about grief, yes, but even more about hope, remembrance, and the enduring power of love.
Writing this book wasn’t easy, but it was healing. It allowed space for reflection, faith, and the quiet reminder that memories can be both tender and beautiful. My hope is that Logan’s Light offers comfort to children and families walking through loss, and reassurance that light can still shine in hard seasons.
This feels like closing a chapter that began years ago in this very space and opening another with gratitude and peace.
Logan’s Light: Enchanted Adventures of Sibling Love and Memories is available on Amazon for anyone who has followed this journey, supported our family, or feels this story may speak to their own heart.
Thank you for being here, then and now.
