What 1 Corinthians 13 teaches about love, comparing ourselves to other moms, and finding a love greater than social media likes. Read on for the whole story.

One of the most powerful messages in the Bible about love is stated in 1 Corinthians 13:4.

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends…”

Have you ever doubted a love? Whether it’s from your parents, children, or significant other?

We all go through a time in our life where we question if we are loved enough. I have, and it does nothing but put a hole in your heart.

If you are living a life that is God first and you have your significant other and/or children and family, that is all the love you need. There is no need to seek out love in other avenues.

I’ve been hard on myself and try to please everyone and want them to love me for me. Well, comes down to it, they do love me for me and I don’t need to try to be anything more than I already am.

Do I struggle with how I feel on that matter? Sure! I see these epic moms doing epic things with their kids and I feel like I can’t compete. I see women who look phenomenal at my age and I want to look like that as well because I “think” that’s what my husband wants.

Comes down to it, my kids and husband just want my love as much as I want theirs. It doesn’t matter what mistakes I’ve made or even how much of a mess I can be. They just want me as I am.

And I feel like that’s how God wants us too. We are a mess and have issues and lots of questions about our lives. But if we come to Him as ourselves, He is always there with open arms directing us in the way we should go, that is if we listen to His call.

There’s been times that I feel like He’s not there, but I keep on persevering and will eventually find hope and the answers that He’s leading me to. I still have TONS of questions for Him, but I know in due time He will answer them.

The love from our Father is far greater than any earthly love we can receive.

It’s hard to imagine not getting all the “likes” and “loves” on social media to feel “loved”, but there is truly a higher love than we can imagine. I too have a hard time understanding this. I guess you could say I like the dopamine from it all. (I wrote more about that in What Is the Utmost Important Thing to You?)

But does that all really matter in the end? No, it does not.

I guess we all should try to be more humble and really embrace the surroundings we have. There are many that don’t have that, so let’s cherish what we have and extend that to those around us!

“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

1 Corinthians 13:13
