Perseverance

Watching our kids push through hard schoolwork, and how faith, family, and friends keep us persevering when we want to quit. Read on for the whole story.

As I sit and watch my children struggle through some of their schoolwork that they aren’t understanding, I realize that these are life lessons.
Yes, this is easy to understand, and we’ve all heard the moans and groans of others and from ourselves when we face challenging things in our everyday lives. But what keeps us pushing on? Family? Friends? Faith?
I think all three of those are what keeps us going. I am fortunate to have an awesome and encouraging support team from my family and friends alike. However, I do know that the faith I have in God is the main reason for persevering daily. He has never failed me, so I’ll keep on keeping-on for Him.
Do I fail? Absolutely! Do I give up? Sometimes.
Just like when our children are trying to grasp a new concept in their schoolwork and are getting frustrated, they want to quit. As a parent, I try to keep encouraging them to try again.
When they finally get it, you can see that spark come to life and that moment they feel good about themselves, and what a sight that is to see and hear!
I too get frustrated with things and want to throw in the towel. But God wants us to do good in life and always look towards Him in our challenging times. When we want to give up, just remember, He has never given up on us.
He sees a spark in us as well when we strive to live each day to serve Him and be persistent in setting goals that glorify Him. Perseverance is a beautiful thing with an amazing reward when done with a Christ-like attitude!
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
James 1:2-4
