Spring gardening, camping, and the big family decision to start raising backyard chickens again. Read on for the whole story.

As spring approaches, I can’t help but think of all things spring! Flowers, gardening, camping, hiking, and of course, relaxing thunderstorms.

What else comes to mind when you think of spring? Baby chicks? Oh, yes!

After serious discussion and research with the family, we decided to embark on the fun of raising chickens! I had been in the “chicken business” in the past, but put it on hold for various reasons. I’m so ready to get back to enjoying these feathery friends.

Josie and I scoped out our local farm store to see which kinds were available. Of course, she wanted one of each, including the ducks and geese!

I think we’ve narrowed it down to only getting five chickens (one for each family member?) and getting a mix of breeds. Stay tuned for a post when we get things a-cluckin’!

Update: Meet our new chicks!
