Spring Has Sprung!

Meet our first backyard chicks, Bella, Daisy, Chicken, and Nuggie, plus the veggies we started from seed indoors. Read on for the whole story.

What a fun spring has started out to be! We did get five chicks (we decided on chickens in Spring Is In the Air), however, one did not make it through twenty-four hours. So four is plenty for now, but we’ll eventually have to get Erik one as well.
Now for their introductions:
- The biggest one that’s brown is Josie’s, and she named her Isabella (Bella for short).
- The yellow one is mine, and I named her Daisy.
- The black one with more white in the little wings is Landon’s, and he named it Chicken.
- The other black one is Todd’s, and he named it Nuggie.
The boys and their names for their chicks are hilarious!
Besides chickens being added to the family, we started growing our own veggies inside from seed until the weather stays above freezing. Squash, tomatoes, and beans are just to name a few. So far they are looking great! Can’t wait to get them in the ground soon! (See how it’s going on our little homestead.)
We’ve had some beautiful days, but also some cold days here lately. We are ready for the warmer weather to get outside and take some adventures! Check back soon!
