Remembering the true meaning of the Fourth of July, holding to our values, and praying for our country. Read on for the whole story.

As we all go forth and celebrate the upcoming holiday, let us not forget what it’s truly about.

So much news has hit me hard lately and I am having a hard time dealing with it all. We are America. Home of the free, land of the brave. The Superpower. The best country ever to live in.

But why does it seem like such trying times? Gas prices, food costs, crazy protests going on? I love my country and couldn’t be prouder than to be an American. I feel like I’m trying to put blinders on to not see what we’re getting into.

I fear for my kids, but I also know that we will “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

We need to hold true to the moral values and principles this nation was founded upon and to pray for our country daily. (I share more about the values that matter most to our family in What Is the Utmost Important Thing to You?)

We do not know what lies ahead, but if we have faith and hope that our Heavenly Father will work things out for His good, then that should give us some comfort knowing there is a plan at work.

Once again, while we celebrate this great nation with family and friends, let us not forget the true meaning of this holiday and give honor to those that sacrificed so much to make this a free country and enjoy all the privileges that we have.

God bless America!

“The fate of America cannot depend on any one man. The greatness of America is grounded in principles and not on any single personality.” F.D.R.
